MEDIA GIRLFRIENDS
I launched Media Girlfriends as a podcast in 2016 looking behind the scenes of women working in journalism.
We are a podcast production company led by women who are Black & POC which honours, respects and centres historically misrepresented voices, through excellent journalism and storytelling done with care. We aim for joyful creativity.
With co-owners Garvia Bailey & Hannah Sung, and a team of excellent audio professionals, Media Girlfriends is currently producing a Black history podcast and video series with Historica Canada.
Media Girlfriends is also a peer support network & annual $30K student scholarship. We support women, non-binary & trans journalists, and invite everyone. We’re focused on more perspectives in Canadian media, particularly those by Black, Indigenous and other people of colour.
We offer:
🎙 Podcast & video production
✍🏿 Seminars on podcasting & storytelling
📖 Sensitivity reads on scripts
👩🏾🎓 Annual $10K student scholarships (x3)
📣 Informal peer mentorship & support
