I live with schizophrenia— a mental health condition that affects 20 million people & roughly 1% of the global population. I was formally diagnosed in 2016-- in fact, I walked into the VA Emergency Dept on Election Day because I feared for my life thinking I was going to Hell for not voting simply for the fact that I had moved counties and thought someone was trying to steal my identity AND you can see how deep down a rabbit hole someone with schizophrenia can get when they are actively sick (aka in psychosis or psychotic.)
Please do not be afraid of me— Yes, I was in the US Army; No, I did not see combat; I am more afraid of you than you are afraid of someone with schizophrenia.

I want to raise awareness about schizophrenia! The most common misconception is that schizophrenia means ❌SPLIT PERSONALITIES….. WRONG❌! It’s a ✅BREAK FROM what society calls REALITY✅!
Schizophrenia is not something to be whispered about because that’s where STIGMA breeds! Did you know that in the same vein as autism, there are varying levels of functioning within the schizophrenia community?
Know someone with schizophrenia or psychosis and don’t know the first thing in how to engage with them? PULL ME INTO A ROOM AND LET’S TALK! Join the SCHIZOPHRENIA WARRIORS CLUB here on CH or the Facebook group under the name “SCHIZOPHRENIA WARRIORS & SUPPORT GROUP.”
One last thing— schizophrenia IS treatable with medications, therapy, psychosocial rehabilitation, among others BUT THERE IS NO CURE FOR SCHIZOPHRENIA!
