Though she dropped out of school in the 8th grade, Miller started college in her thirties, graduating Magna Cum Laude (leading her to joke -- "The only thing I missed by not going to high school was the prom!") with a journalism degree.
Originally self-published in 1999, after selling 3,000 copies of "Satin Doll" in six weeks on her own and 28,000 copies in seven months, Miller's book went into a publishing auction and publishing rights were purchased -- for six figures -- by Simon & Schuster. Miller went on to publish nine books with Simon & Schuster, Random House, Kensington, and Grand Central Publishing. Still, she remains an advocate of self-publishing.
