I’m very British.

It’s probably an odd thing to say, it sounds like I drink lots of tea, love the Queen and enjoy a queue. ☕️👑

But I do! Drink tea I mean, and love the Queen. I hate to queue but when queuing is necessary I do appreciate a well ordered and polite system. No pushing!

But what I mean by ‘very British’ is that I’m also modest. Too modest probably.
I don’t shout about things that I could.

I don’t like to brag, and humble bragging is even worse!

So my dilemma. 🤐
I’m on Clubhouse, this swanky new platform to connect with like minded people but also to level up, learn from, and be exposed to new ideas.

I admire the people in their bios telling us all that they built 7 figure businesses and won a very prestigious award or that they are bezzie mates with (insert impressive famous person) and I’m hitting ‘follow’, ‘follow’, ‘follow’.

But I’m reluctant to bang my own drum to impress you all. Because at the heart of it all, does it really matter?

Whether I have £million$ or an overdraft, if I’m an asshole, I’m still an asshole with deeper pockets. 🧐

But, I’m here to expand my comfort zone and be brave so here’s a few token impressive things that are 100% true:

I’m an international speaker! I delivered a keynote address at the launch of a European Business Network for Female Entrepreneurs in Sweden. The entrepreneurs were from all over Europe but the event was held in Stockholm! I had dinner with a member of the Swedish royal family there too!

I was invited to a drinks reception at 10 Downing Street to celebrate small business owners, where I met Lord Alan Sugar and Simon Cowell’s brother! 😂 I still have the invitation, framed, on a shelf in my office next to my press cuttings. (Sorry! Humblebrag!)

I was once named as Yorkshire Business Insider Magazine’s ‘42 Under 42’. This is (was?) an annual roundup of young entrepreneurs to watch. They held a glittering awards dinner and I was invited back for several years after as ‘A Former 42’.

So there you have it! Follow or don’t- no problem either way. But if we get to know each other better, I can tell you how I flew all the way to Australia for a business meeting and divulge behind the scenes gossip from my game show career! (Now THAT was a long time ago!)
