I am a college professor of Sociology and director of Criminology. I received my BA of Psychology from Hampton University and PhD in Sociology, specializing in Law and Society, from Purdue University. My research primarily focuses on racial outcomes in criminal justice innovations.

Community Work 🏘🏫🏛

Outside of the academy, I remain actively involved with my local community. I run a bi-weekly group at Newark, NJ’s community court with college-age formerly incarcerated men of color that focus on ways we can improve our communities and ourselves. Also, I am a Diversity and Equity consultant for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals.

I co-host the Black & Highly Dangerous (BhD) podcast, which aims to bridge the gap between academia and The People by interviewing various scholars, professionals, and activists that focus on topics involving people of color.
