Freelance journalist, editor, comedian, children’s book writer, humorless feminist, auntie & citizen of the Cherokee Nation, Texan, pottymouth, sober, grateful to be here.
My journalism is mostly about art. It’s appeared in LA Weekly, San Antonio Current, Glasstire, Village Voice (RIP), New Statesman (UK), Medium.
I did and do comedy, I started on the NYC Lower East Side scene about 20 years ago, drifted into journalism and other writing, and came back to standup about 3 years ago after getting sober. I sound fun!
I’ve written children’s books, notably Shrek’s Gag Book (the kids’ joke book for Shrek 2) for Dreamworks and several Clifford the Big Red Dog/Puppy Days titles for Scholastic.
Based in my hometown of San Antonio, TX, on Payaya, Yanaguana, Tap Pilam and “Mission Indian”/Coahiltecan land. I’ve lived in NYC, Los Angeles, London, but my real dream is Lubbock.
Mixed-blood; my Irish-American mom’s ᏣᏔᎩ name is “Yoneg” 😉
