❌A club where like-minded rad-fems can come together to teach, learn and discuss any and everything. Nothing is off limits. XX will always be centered here.❌ •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 🛑The basis of second wave leaning Radical Feminism 1968: ‘Radical feminism is a perspective within feminism that calls for a radical reordering of society in which male supremacy is eliminated in all social and economic contexts, while recognizing that women's experiences are also affected by other social divisions such as in race, class, and sexual orientation. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• ‘It is impossible to name and act against oppression, if there are no namable oppressors.’ •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 🛑Black feminism became popular in response to the overt, covert and often times insidious ways the white feminist movement was racist and often times left out the intersecting, dual and even triple+ oppressions that black women of the female sex faced and experienced. This includes but is not limited to androcentrism, heteronormativity, religious indoctrination/dogma, misogyny, misogynoir, sexism, machoism, patriarchy, pimparchy, colorism, ageism, capitalism and etc., more below. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 🛑Analyzing and critiquing history through a radical feminist lens gives a clearer and more cognitive understanding of present day operations and future day aspirations. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 🛑The second wave was increasingly theoretical, based on a fusion of neo-Marxism and psycho-analytical theory, and began to associate the subjugation of women with broader critiques of patriarchy, capitalism, normative heterosexuality, and the woman's role as wife and mother. Sex and gender were differentiated—the former being biological, and the later a social construct that varies culture-to-culture and over time. The second phase drew in women of color and developing nations, seeking sisterhood and solidarity, claiming "Women's struggle is class struggle." Feminists spoke of women as a social class and coined phrases such as "the personal is political" and "identity politics" in an effort to demonstrate that race, class, and sex/gender oppression are all related. They initiated a concentrated effort to rid society top-to-bottom of sexism, from children's cartoons to the highest levels of government. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 🛑One of the strains of this complex and diverse "wave" was the development of women-only spaces and the notion that women working together create a special dynamic that is not possible in mixed-groups, which would ultimately work for the betterment of the entire planet. Women, due to their long "subjugation" because of their biology, were thought by some to be more humane, collaborative, inclusive, peaceful, nurturing, democratic, and holistic in their approach to problem solving than ‘men’ aka males. The term eco-feminism was coined to capture the sense that because of their biological connection to earth and lunar cycles, women were natural advocates of environmentalism.
