Bio

🎸 Detroit guitarist and composer, originally from Oakland, CA

🎼 Founder of Afro-spirit sound collective, LuFuki and Divine Providence

💿 First album entitled, Inner Horizons, available on all streaming sites

🎧 Artist on IMAN Arts roster in Chicago, Poets Society in Detroit, and Raise Karma.

🕌 Co-director of the Detroit chapter of GAMA alongside his partner, Tazeen Ayub, and co-founder of Sanctuary of Sound, an intimate community space for artists where spirituality meets musical and artistic expression.

🎓 LuFuki holds a Bachelors in Africana Studies and History from University of Michigan and he received his Masters from Wayne State University in Near Eastern Studies, specializing in the Arabic Language, and with a concentration in the literary genre of Tasliyah, praise poetry of the Prophet Muhammad. He is a published author, translator, and researcher on various aspects of Islamic thought.

📚 Currently, he is writing a book concentrating on how music was/is used for spiritual enlightening in light of the classical and contemporary Sufis.
