Bio
Lea, born in 1993, faced early challenges being born six weeks premature into poverty within a marginalized community.
Lea was raised by her 19-year-old mother, lost her grandma to Cancer when Lea was 4, and did not know her father until she was 14.
Lea is the oldest of five siblings, became a mother at 17 and has the highest Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) score possible.
As a single mom, she balanced raising her son while pursuing education, becoming a before/after school teacher and later a behavior therapist specializing in autism. Struggling with depression and anxiety during college in her early 20s, Lea turned to alcohol at 21, leading to health issues.
Amidst personal growth, Leah became a mother to two more children, experiencing a decline in her health.
A turning point came in 2018 after a car accident and further decline in her physical and mental health.
In 2019, Leah quit alcohol and pharmaceuticals cold turkey, facing withdrawal challenges; due to continued alcohol use and domestic abuse from her husband at the time she separated from the marriage and began to search for ways to heal herself through multiple modalities including Behavior and Art therapy.
Post-accident, she also was forced to fight for her oldest son's custody, navigating a toxic court battle.
Diagnosed with CPTSD, Lea strives for a healthy lifestyle, focusing on secure attachments with her kids.
Her journey reflects resilience, determination, and a commitment to being a safe and present mom.
Today Lea has been sober since December 2021 and recently gave birth to her first daughter, she lives happily with her spouse - a third generation veteran and founder of a non profit; together they provide ministry through resources, education, and peer support.
Lea is a former Medical Cannabis patient and advocate for the use of the plant as an option in treatment under the care of licensed, trauma informed, medical professionals.
