I’m a mother and a storyteller. Doing both has its challenges but I wouldn’t trade anything for being able to do both of these things. They say you can’t have it all, but if you hone in on what you want and you have a will, you will find a way to have your “all.”
Krystal M. Harris is a writer/Director who specializes in Character Driven- Drama and Fantasy Narratives. After college, Harris was commissioned by Beacon Pictures to write on their slate, and penned a Feature-Length film, entitled “The Loop,” a Modern day Romeo and Juliet, which highlighted the racial divide in Chicago’s Downtown Loop.
Her main focus is sixty-minute Dramas and feature-length films.
Of her work Harris states:
“I like to explore the connective tissue that makes us human and a lot of that comes from trauma or difficult circumstance. I love to explore the bonds that tie us all together irrespective of race or status. But I also like to deliver education through the guise of entertainment. Making people connect to Black characters is part of that. Sometimes I have to get a little crafty with it, and that’s when I transform these stories into Fantasy narratives. Because you know, if you create the world you have freedom over it. With fantasy I can utilizes metaphors for some of the things audiences are not yet receptive to in plain clothes, so I dress it up, and in doing so I am able to let audiences sink into the world, connect with the characters, relate on a human level and thus educate through shared emotion."
Harris was a 2017 HBO ACCESS Semi-Finalist for her script entitled “We Are Risen,” an Epic Fantasy Drama that does for Mythology what “Once Upon A Time” did for Fairytales, but stealthily disguises the race conflict in the United States by reimagining the stories of Ancient Gods and Humans.
Her production company, Krystal Muse Incorporated, recently completed a short film pitch for her original series, “The New: Jim Crow Majority Rules” and she is currently in post production on the second project on her slate, “Sunset,” a dark thriller that has been filmed completely virtually.
Harris is also an Actress and Director managed by Atlas Artists and Schuller Talent
