Hello, My name is James Phillips also known as Flo! After suffering from depression and stages of mania I found my peace through an unconventional means. I began taking walks in the neighborhood across the street and found myself growing close to horses. It wasn’t until I started making it a routine that I began to receive clarity. I quickly bonded with my equine friends and have now taken it upon myself to organize what is formally known as JFH Horse Sanctuary.

The initials represent my grandfather James Frederick Hills who first introduced me to horses as the Amish neighbors would pass by in the horse and buggy. As a child I was terrified and very timid around the animals. As I’ve grown older and went through the ups and downs in life I figured out they may just be my saving grace.

In the same way they have provided me stability and the strength to carry on, we wish to do the same. We are looking to raise an initial goal of 25k to secure the proper licenses to operate as a non profit organization, land, equipment, feed, and of course the first round of horses.

The vision is grand grand, but not unattainable. Ideally I would like to be able to house and care for 16-20 horses at a given time. Here locally the cost of boarding a horse can range from $150-$400 (including feed).

As a rescue and sanctuary, JFH will operate in random with BLM and first acquire wild and untrained horses for the purposes or rehabilitation and rehoming. In electing to acquire horses through BLM, we can then further secure additional stipends per horse through BLM to ensure proper living conditions.

Initial funding will be allocated first towards ensuring we are operating in the correct legal fashion. Beyond that, all donations will serve as capital to build and further fund the venture.
