I am a pioneer in research on rodent control in India establishing the density and diversity of rodents, extent of damage caused, population
fluctuation of
these pests
evaluatiin of rodenticides in fields of cereals, pulses, oil seeds, plantation and horticultural crops of Karnataka. My research has contributed in effective formulatiion of control strategies for rodents in crop fields, godowns, poultry farms and residential premises.
The findings have been taught to farmers and farm women in nearly 50 villages of southern Karnataka.I have visited and given invited lectures in most of the prestigeous universities and research centers of the world such as Oxford, Nottingham , Munich, Copenhagen, WHO, Austria, Hawaii, Tubingen, UCLA at Berkley and Davis, Denver Wildlife Research Center, Bowling Green state university, Knox ville, National zoological park of the Smithsonian Institute at Washington DC , John Hopkins University,Monel Chemical Ctr etc.
I have authored several books on ridents, insects and vertebrate pests if agriculture.My scientific publications are more than hundred.
During service I have carried out rodent control in Raj Bhavan and Krishna, the official residences of CM for several years continuously.
I have organised several national and international conferences.
I am the first woman scientist to be nominated by the Governor of Karnataka to the Board of Management of Univ. Agri Sci, Bangalore for theperiod 2017 to 2020.
Now, nearly 15 years after retirement I am devoting myself to administration of non profit scientific organizations, writing reviews and books, participating in conferences and most importantly moulding young scientists.
