During my time with the ACLU of Connecticut, I gained valuable experience through lobbying legislation.

One of the initial pieces of legislation I championed was Senate Bill 880, which aimed to increase transparency in prosecutors' decision-making processes. This bill made Connecticut the first state to gather and analyze prosecutor data in order to identify and address racial bias. In addition to this, I successfully advocated for the passage of several other significant bills, including Senate Bill 1019, commonly referred to as the Clean Slate Bill, which was designed to support thousands of formerly incarcerated individuals in the state of Connecticut. Furthermore, I played a key role in the advocacy for Senate Bill 1070, which focused on providing oversight and transparency for prosecutors. I also contributed to the passage of Senate Bill 972, which made all communication in state prisons and youth detention facilities free while prohibiting the state from profiting off communication services. My efforts in advocacy also extended to supporting a bill to restrict the use of solitary confinement in Connecticut prisons. These experiences motivated me to establish my own organization with the aim of educating others on self-advocacy and influencing lawmakers through lobbying activities.
