Destiny McKinney, M. Ed brings over a decade of higher education experience, serving at both private and public institutions at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Historically White Institutions (HWIs), urban, secular, and religiously affiliated. Destiny received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing from Grambling State University and Masters of Education degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Texas State University. She is currently working to propose her research in the Adult, Professional, and Community Education Doctoral Program at Texas State University.
Destiny has a very relevant and working knowledge of the various student development theories about student success, persistence, retention, and beyond. Her work is deeply rooted in social justice, equity, and access to fundamental human rights, education, and resources. Through intentional works beginning with acknowledging and reckoning who we are, we can build in restorative practices like Equity, Access, Inclusion. To be able to understand and appreciate diversity. She works out of the following philosophy: “The promotion of educational equity through mentorship, challenge, support, and advocacy for all students in the pursuit of better things.”
