Bio

My name is Angelita Able. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, currently residing in Atlanta, GA. I’m going to do a documentary about my life. From having a drug addict mother, being raped at 12, having my first daughter at age 15, by 21 I had three daughters. At 23 I was sentenced to 20-60 years in prison on a drug conviction. I became a paralegal while incarcerated. Filed my 6.500 motion after serving 10 years and was re-sentenced to 6-30 years citing eighth amendment cruel & unusual punishment. I was released in 2007, received my first job 3 weeks after I came home in the property preservation field. Three weeks on the job I was promoted to office manager. I became business partners and lovers with a former employer. That ended after 3 years. I started my own business and made a million dollars my first year. Life happened, I lost my grandmother and mother. In 2016 I relocated to Atlanta with $100 and didn’t look back. I was a poster child for F.A.M.M (Families Against Mandatory Minimums).

This is new to me I’m reaching out for support on any level. My end goals are to have multiple businesses that will hire and assist other women coming home from prison. It’s more to it than just getting a job!! Reconnecting with your children and maintaining your own sanity from being away is something prison does not prepare you for. What better person than someone that’s been through it?
