UC Davis faculty member (Educator of the Year, 2006), radio talk show host, instructional designer, academic director, poet, author (four books so far), poetry series host, weekly columnist, blogger, writing coach, TedX speaker, educational technologist, quizmaster, marketer, PhD, poet laureate emeritus, voice actor, KDVS fan, business owner, editor-in-chief, keynote speaker, wedding officiant, mentor, MC.
Also, husband, father, Buddhist, anti-racist, meditator, walker (2,000 miles a year), marcher and writer for racial equality and social justice, disability advocate, dad of a kid with autism.
I’ve lived in Washington DC (born and raised), New York City, Boston, London, Chicago, Berkeley, Sacramento, and Davis, California (where I live now).
I’ve written for the Sacramento Bee and other smaller newspapers, I’ve been interviewed (twice) on the BBC World Service and other smaller radio shows, and I’ve appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and other smaller TV shows.
