To Freedom! History Club on Clubhouse

All too often in many social media spaces, Black people are forced to endure lies and gaslighting about our own history and heritage. In the space we are going to correct the record on many fallacies and untruths that have become rampant both in popular society and in academic social science circles. Members are more than welcome to open rooms under the club as a means of response, to speak socially on current events which draw a line to our history, or to discuss any Black history topics you find interesting or important. We plan on having weekly topic discussions that we hope you will find engaging and insightful. Peace and Love. TO FREEDOM!
Watch your mouth: We all use ableist language. Often, we do it unknowingly. If someone intervenes and explains why a word you used is harmful, acknowledge it, make a note, and move on. It’s not personal, it’s a lesson.
Respect all voices: It’s important to allow those speaking the space to make themselves complete when doing so. We stress courtesy unless harm or untruths are named so tread carefully. That being said, see rule #3 below👇🏾
Center marginalized identities: This club is about Black people and Black issues. Some may hold similar opinions and beliefs, but the world doesn't treat us all the same. Here we center dark, fat, disabled, ND Black femme voices.
