Chaldeans, Assyrians, Syriac, Jew, Arab and every other Aramaic admirer, welcome! If you only speak English, fear not, both English and Aramaic will be used with translation to discuss anything you wish. Royal Aramaic inscriptions date from 10th century BC, making Aramaic one of the world's oldest recorded living languages. Known most commonly as the language of Jesus, the Aramaic alphabet is the precursor of both the Hebrew and the Arabic alphabet. Neo-Aramaic is spoken by ~2 million people in the world and is on the brink of extinction. This room’s purpose is to keep the language and culture alive. One of our main missions is to train our ear to understand the different dialects of neo-Aramaic and teach those who would like to learn from scratch. So lend me your ears, and remember, whether you’re Assyrian, Chaldean, Syriac, Jewish, or Arab...we are all one, under God.
