🪴The Haiku Club🎍is a place to inspire, challenge, improvise, and share your short poems about beauty, ugliness, happiness, sadness, the light, the dark, and everything in between. We try to stick closely to the standard “17 on” or 5,7,5 format.
Haikus are an extremely accessible form of poetry. They are short and easy to create, but difficult to master. So whether you’re a beginner, more experienced, or just want to chill out and listen to hushed voices forming beauty with words, you’re exactly where you need to be.
While the subject of poetry can sometimes be stressful or sad, this is a 🧊chill and ➕positive place, so let’s keep the vibe happy and judgement-free.
PS- If you see Dan in a room, feel free to challenge him to come up with a haiku on the most ridiculous topic you can think of.
Be calm, respectful, and disciplined.: Pretend this is a library. But it’s a library full of your dearest friends. We treat everyone here with kindness, respect, and support.
Be judgement-free and inclusive.: Not everyone is the same, and that is just fine. We are inclusive to all races, religions, genders, orientation, and also experience. Beginners should be able to share the stage with confidence.
Be positive.: The subject of poetry may be sad, stressful, or scary. This doesn’t mean we can’t still be positive and happy to be here, sharing beauty with others. Give value and support to fellow speakers.
