Oh my gosh, welcome!!! This is SO exciting. Welcome to The Mahjong Line!

We thought the classic, thriving Chinese game of Mahjong was at risk of dying and we white girls just couldn’t have that happen. So, we took it upon our colonizing selves to “revitalize” Mahjong and exploit Chinese culture by “modernizing” Mahjong tiles by offering a wide variety of completely original tile designs, many with no resemblance to the original Chinese characters.

We aren’t sure why people think we engaged in erasure. Like, we didn’t whitewash anything. People started to call out our problematic and exploitative capitalistic behavior and they tried to hold us accountable, but we’re like not sorry. Instead, we deflected and decided to counter with how dangerous a mob mentality is, as if we couldn’t possibly be wrong even when the rest of the world says otherwise. We’re *entrepreneurs* after all. We don’t just give up. Our line is just the result of our hard work and creative expression deeply rooted in cultural appropriation, erasure, and exploitation.
