Marita Golden is the acclaimed author of 17 works of fiction and nonfiction. She is a literary consultant, writing coach and offers writing workshops.
Her books include the novels After and The Wide Circumference of Love and the memoirs Migrations of the Hearr and Don't Play in the Sun.
She is cofounder and President Emerita of the Hurston/Wright Foundation. She has been honored with recognition for her work by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association and the Authors Guild among others.
Her new book The Strong Black Woman How a Myth Endangers the Physical and Mental Health of Black Women will be released in October.
