Experienced emerging market investor, entrepreneur, management consultant and political economist.

Based in Nairobi Kenya, Dr. Wilmot Allen is Founder of an investment and trade advisory firm and fintech marketplace facilitating diaspora economic engagement with Africa, VentureLift Africa. With the MBDA Export Center and other partners, the firm, VentureLift Africa co-organized the seminal Diaspora Investment and Trade Deal Event in 2020 - www.ditde.com. He is a business coach and advisor to entrepreneurial ecosystems helping startups and SMEs across Africa and in the US.

He is Co-Founder of a genomics company, IndygeneUS AI, advancing precision medicine in Africa.

Wilmot is a venture partner at RH Healthcare Private Equity and recent strategy consultant to the Africa Union CDC on new approaches to emergency response and strengthening healthcare systems in Africa. He was also an R&D consultant to Allergan Pharmaceuticals and Clinical Researcher at Procter & Gamble.

Prior, Wilmot led the transaction team for the East Africa Trade and Investment Hub for USAID as Director at Crossboundary LLC, facilitating over $120mm in investments in two years.

In other financial roles, Wilmot worked with the International Finance Corporation in DC, executing investments totaling over $300mm and managing a portfolio of $2.5b with the private equity and financial institutions groups. He was also Senior Advisor to the CEO Lars Thunell on entrepreneurship, supporting SMEs in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, in conjunction with the World Economic Forum. In other roles, Wilmot executed over $4b in combined transactions as a venture capital investor, technology M&A investment banker to Silicon Valley and private placement and IPO investment banker.

In media and entertainment, Wilmot worked with the finance and strategy team at ABC TV and was a creative executive at PBS.

Wilmot is a member of the National Association of Security Professionals, a former Robert Toigo Fellow and was selected as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum.

Wilmot has a PhD from Georgetown University in comparative political economy, an MBA from Wharton Business School, MPA from Harvard University and BA from Yale University. Wilmot is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Wits University in South Africa.
