Born in Waipahu, Hawaii and raised in Ilocos Sur, Philippines from the age of 9 months to 5 years old, then moved back to Hawaii where I picked up the sport of boxing at the age of 6. Started competing at the age of 8.

I attended Northern Michigan University, and studied in Broadcast Journalism as part of the United States Olympic Education Center program (USOEC). I qualified for the USA Olympic Boxing Team and competed in Sydney, Australia.

After the Olympics, I moved to Los Angeles and started my professional boxing career under Hall Of Fame trainer Freddie Roach, (winning 2 world titles). Within my 18 years as a pro, I trained under Roberto Garcia (winning 1 title), Joe Goosen, Joe Hernandez, and Mario Morales (winning 1 title). Retired from competition in 2019.
