Terry R. Myers is a writer and independent curator based in Los Angeles, and an editor-at-large of the Brooklyn Rail. He is the author of Mary Heilmann: Save the Last Dance for Me (2007) and the editor of Painting: Documents of Contemporary Art (2011). He was the co-curator of Kay Rosen: Lifeli[k]e at MOCA and Otis Gallery (1998), and the guest curator of Robert Overby: Parallel, 1978-1969 at the Hammer Museum (2000), and Candida Alvarez: Here at the Chicago Cultural Center (2017) that is documented and further contextualized in Candida Alvarez: Here. A Visual Reader (2020).
Since 1990 he has held faculty positions at Pratt Institute, Otis College of Art & Design, Art Center College of Design, the Royal College of Art (London), and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he was Chair of Painting & Drawing from 2013-2018.
