Saxophonist Matt Keegan regularly performs throughout Australia and around the world. In 2011 he won the MCA Freedman Fellowship for jazz. As a soloist he has featured in bands led by: Mike Nock, James Muller, Phil Slater, and Barney McCall. As a gun for hire he has been employed by Jimmy Barnes, The Beautiful Girls, Thirsty Merc and Maroon 5 (USA).
Keegan is the artistic director of the intercultural ensemble The Three Seas, an international troupe of contemporary jazz and folk musicians from Australia and West Bengal, India. In 2018, the group was featured at the OzAsia festival and described as “a musical marriage that sent the room into ecstasy...the sort of work which tips music over from being an aesthetic experience, into being a spiritual one” 5 Stars - Tracey Korsten, Glam Adelaide.
Matt Keegan was a 2018 recipient of the APRA AMCOS Art Music Fund. He has composed works for groups including: The Zephyr String Quartet and Elysian Fields, and arranged horn music for artists including Passenger (UK), Pseudopod (Interscope, USA) and Darren Percival (AUS).
