Bio
Designer, developer, brand strategist and serial entrepreneur who has spent the last two decades crafting design concepts, identities, environments, products and technologies for companies, destinations and institutions.
Founder / director, Add + Subtract, an international network of specialists in development, architecture and built environments;
Monarcha, a holding company that designs service companies, with a portfolio including SHLD which provides rapid covid testing, technology and teams focused on kickstarting the UK and Irish events sectors.
Design director, developer, brand strategist of the re-design and build of Fingal, a floating hotel permanently moored on Leith waterfront, owned and managed by the Royal Yacht Britannia Trust. Since opening in January 2019, Fingal has become the most highly-rated hotel in Edinburgh.
Stephen was previously partner / chief creative officer at master developer Elms Partners, now Urbn Limited, where he conceptualised mixed-use projects in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and CIS. He also held the role of International Creative Director for Four Communications, one of the UK’s most successful independent integrated agencies.
Stephen began his design career as a founder / entrepreneur, establishing and running up his own creative agency, Tomorrow London, after graduating in Graphic Design from Central St. Martin’s School of Art. Here, he and his team worked on branding, creative and conceptual campaigns for clients including the BBC, British Council, Bear Stearns, architect Rem Koolhaas and BT. His moving image work includes motion graphics for the Academy Award winning The Constant Gardener and Anthony Minghella’s Breaking and Entering. He has also been in demand as a Visiting Lecturer on the MA Interaction Design course at the Royal College of Art and a Visiting Tutor at Central Saint Martin’s.
