SANDRA IZSADORE is a singer composer/author/activist who during the early 1970’s met and revitalized Africa’s revolutionary genius FELA ANIKULAPO-KUTI. Sandra has been featured in the Tony Award Broadway Musical “Fela” portrayed by Michele Williams of “Destiny Child”, Saycon Sengbloh and Paulette Ivory. She has been featured in four documentaries one entitled “Beware of Mr. Baker” a documentary about drummer Ginger Baker, and a documentary from Academy Award winner Director Alex Gibney entitled “Finding Fela”. Carlos Moore “My Friend Fela” and Biyi Bandele’s “Father of Afrobeat” Upon meeting Sandra, Fela’s music and political ideas changed. Thus Afro-Beat was born. Sandra is the only featured vocalist on Fela’s music. The song entitled Upside Down, was a hit in 197, Sandra Izsadore is called The Queen Mother of Afro-Beat. Sandra Izsadore is immortalized in Fela’s own Biography “Fela Fela This Bitch of a Life” written by Carlos Moore, one chapter is dedicated to her. True to her innate cause of humanitarianism Sandra continues to fight for World Peace, Justice and Equality for all.
