SAM ROBERTS - Father / Voice Over Artist/ Actor/ Writer / Producer / Fisherman
Born and raised in Montreal, Sam relocated the New York area almost 40 years ago.
Sam’s background includes many years of working on stage, film and television both in his native Canada and the U.S but in 1984 he turned his energy to the world of voice-overs. His deep, rich, resonant sound made him, almost instantly, the voice of choice for many blue chip accounts.
(Some of the countless TV and radio campaigns to feature Sam’s voice over the years include: ADVIL, AAMCO, BANK of AMERICA, BURGER KING, COKE, CHEERIOS, COMPUTER ASSOCIATES, CAPRI SUN, DREYFUS, FORD, HERTZ, KODAK, LISTERINE, LIPTON, MOTOROLA, MOUNTAIN DEW, MAGNAVOX, NESTLE, PEPSI, PIZZA HUT, REEBOK, REYNOLDS WRAP, SURE DEODORANT, SPRITE, SONY, THERAFLU, TYLENOL, UNCLE BEN’S and WENDY’S.)
About 20 years ago, Sam turned his focus to announcing on-air promotions for which he has earned a reputation as one of the best in his field. In commercials, he is known for his soft, raspy, cool and sexy voice, yet his strong, ‘cut through’ style makes his the ‘go to voice’ when networks want to make a statement through promos. That special ability made Sam the signature voice of TNT Entertainment (Turner Network Television) for 12 years and the promo voice of the NBA ON TNT for more than a decade. Other networks for which Sam continues to do promos include: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, HBO, USA, TBS, COURT TV (TRU TV), DISCOVERY CHANNEL, MTV, VH-1, HISTORY CHANNEL, and many more.
In 2011, he temporarily returned to Canada to produce his award winning screenplay, A Fish Story.
A family drama set in wilderness lake country. Sam’s love of the outdoors, his passion for fishing, and the loving memory of his late father were the inspirations for the film.
“The film based on a true story about my dad and family with a little,’wouldn’t it be wonderful if’ thrown in the mix.”
In addition to writing and producing the movie, the film also marked Sam’s return to working in front of the camera as he played the role of his father.
