Bio
We are Derrick and Harriet Rousseau, cofounders of The Rousseau Foundation, in Philadelphia. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization which started in May 2020, after retiring from our jobs of 37 years.
Our mission was created from our passion in cooking for our church, family and friends. We seek to spread hope and love by providing educational, charitable and community based services.
Our current project is to provide, culinary scholarships for aspiring Chefs. As parents of former culinary students, we remembered how difficult it was to finance culinary school over 15 years ago.
The high school we chose to start this project with, is where our children attended vocational high school in the culinary curriculum. The students in this population are predominantly minority and are low income. The current senior class has 12 students interested in pursuing a culinary degree. We have been fundraising by providing dinners for donations. We will be exploring other options to fundraising in 2021. Stay tuned!!🥰
