Bio

Originally I am a social psychiatric nurse. I have done outreach for homeless individuals with complex needs in Amsterdam for twenty years. Together with a lot of passionate people we introduced Housing First and other evidence based practices in the Netherlands.
I coach individuals and teams.
I organize ‘Learning Expeditions’ to the USA and other countries. These Learning Experiences are developed into a strong and powerful Recovery Tool, for Peers, Professionals and Policy Makers. To change your convictions you have to step out of your routines and travel to other countries. More than 800 people have joined our Experiences and we have organized more than 50 Journeys.
I am married with Marie-Anne, I have two sons, Pelle and Wink and Saar, our dog with the brain and attitude of a social worker, the best friend in our world.
I have overcome Mental Illness from close by. I know where my clients come from and what they had to do to recover. I am a man on a mission and I work with people who have a similar mission and vision.
I truly believe that people can overcome Mental Health Care. I believe in Recovery. A life for people that looks like yours and mine, in the midst of society.
