Marketing Manager @ Morukuru Family in South AfricaπΏπ¦βοΈπ³π±
After finishing my tourism studies in Breda in 1991, I travelled in Southern Africa πΏπ¦πΏπΌπΉπΏπ³π¦ for 3 months and fell in love with the incredible nature and the people of Africa.

From that moment it has always been my passion to share my love for Africa with others.
Since 1992 I have worked for some of the leading Africa specialist touroperators in The Netherlands, doing sales as well as product management. Over the years I have arranged hundreds of tailormade itineraries for families and couples wanting to travel to Southern and Eastern Africa. At travel trade shows I would meet with owners and marketing managers of the many small and high end lodges and camps all over Africa. Fortunately my job also allowed me to travel to Africa frequently, to visit all these camps and lodges for a first hand impression.
It became clear that low impact and high yield travel in Africa was the best way forward, for a sustainable future. Small scale tourism does not leave a large ecological footprint and provides income for local communities, as well as supporting nature conservation. There are many fine examples in various countries in Africa. During my entire career I have always supported smaller camps, lodges and boutique hotels, preferably owner run and managed. At the same time I have supported companies that support local communities and nature conservation.
In 2013 I was offered the opportunity to join Morukuru Family in South Africa (www.morukuru.com) as their international marketing manager. This was a dream come true for me, as I had experienced their exclusive-use safari houses in Madikwe Game Reserve in 2007 already and have been a big fan of their concept and philosophy ever since. Through the Morukuru Goodwill Foundation the owners have been sponsoring nature conservation and local communities for well over a decade already, preserving vulnerable and precious nature reserves for the future. Itβs a huge privilege to be able to contribute to this.
