Bio

Hi I am Rafael Alvarez. I am a Cuban American, fluent in Spanish. My family and I came to NYC when I was 2 years old. I Love people, building things, audio books, conceptualizing new ideas, learning, working out, hiking and life overall.

Former Civil Engineer now an entrepreneur, a visionary and a lover of life. I am the Founder and CEO of b[x] spaces LLC. b[x] spaces are enhanced work environments for artists, artisans and makers in former warehouses, factories and other underutilized properties. The first b[x] location was built in 2008 in Brooklyn NY.

At b[x] spaces we are about positive change and the collaboration of our members with the local community. I love to see people grow and follow their dreams. That’s what the b[x] is.

Prior to b[x] spaces, I worked as a Civil Engineer for over 12 years. Additionally, I have over 25+ years of contracting experience in commercial and residential constructions and renovations throughout NYC.
