I'm a professional makeup artist who loves to celebrate the greatness of black culture and my favorite childhood icons' nostalgia through my artistry.
I started my professional work in beauty over a decade ago when a photographer friend suggested I take up makeup artistry. He thought I’d be “good at it,” after admiring how I did my own face.
His suggestion led me on a path of exploring image consulting, which led to makeup artistry. I took up online self-study courses and practiced the techniques on friends and family members.
As my passion for beauty continued to grow, I sought employment with LVMH company, Sephora. I started as a cashier and was promoted within two months into Color as a makeup artist.
My knowledge of beauty products and passion for people and artistry expanded from there. During my 9.5 year tenure, I honed the skills to become a freelance makeup artist, beauty class facilitator, and business owner.
Recognizing my true passion for teaching, I found my favorite role in beauty is empowering others to master their routine and do what feels right for themselves rather than get stuck on trends only.
I strongly believe in the power of individuality and embracing one's own beauty. So, I became a beauty coach for those who need guidance and recommendations to get started.
After spending 9 years cultivation, I relaunched my beauty business, Candied Y.A.M.S. Makeup Artistry, as a virtual services company in 2020.
In addition to makeup artistry, I am also:
