As a research scientist and PhD candidate for MMF (www.marinemegafauna.org), I lead various research projects in Mozambique, with a particular focus on sharks and rays. I teach aspiring marine scientists how to become successful field biologists and teach divers the beauties and challenges of working in marine conservation in rural Africa.

My overall objective is to improve marine conservation and management of marine resources in Mozambique and my PhD is investigating the effectiveness of marine protected areas and assessing the impacts of commercial fishing on threatened species of sharks and rays.
