Artist / Scholar / Filmmaker
Dr. Nathan A. Jacobs is Scholar in Residence of Philosophy and Religion in the Religion in the Arts in Contemporary Culture Program at Vanderbilt University, Divinity School. He holds advanced degrees in fine art, philosophy, theology, and Church history, including doctorates in Historical Theology and Systematic Theology. Jacobs three books and over thirty refereed articles to his credit.
In 2016, Jacobs transitioned out of academia into filmmaking. He is writer-director of the college comedy Killing Poe (2016) and writer-director of the feature documentary, Becoming Truly Human (2017). He is presently in development on his next feature film.
Jacobs studied fine art painting and drawing at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, one of the top three art schools in the country. He has sold numerous works to private collectors. In the commercial area, Jacobs has worked as a concept artist, character designer, and pre-visualization artist for both film and video games.
