Currently over 400,000 children sit in foster care in America. Countless of them have active and willing families who are fighting for them and being suppressed by the very system that is set to protect and provide for them. Emily Brooks is my niece who was illegally adopted in a system where both her Father and Aunt, ( myself)were subject to heightened racial injustice, prejudice, and flat out robbery of a human life. We have been fighting for nearing 5 years since her birth to have her home with our family. In Sept 2020 NC Supreme Court ruled in our favor to restore all terminated rights and reverse any adoptive decisions, but yet we still face a system ready to destroy a family of color.
