I have been in Personal Training and Health Club management since 1980. Though born and raised in Maine, I worked for 5 years in Boston and 15 years in New York City. Moving back to Maine to raise our kids, I was the Fitness Director/Master Trainer and a Group Fitness instructor at Saco Sport & Fitness in Saco, ME, for 12 years. During this time, I also focused on creating a specialty in business coaching, branding, sales, and marketing of services. This expertise has created opportunities for me to present at conferences nationally and consult with companies on increasing revenues.

In 2015 my wife, Heather and I opened a fitness studio in Easton, PA. Jiva Fitness (pronounced Jee-va) where we offer personal training, group fitness, and nutritional coaching in an intimate, boutique-style setting.

In 2018 my book, The Business of Personal Training, was published by Human Kinetics and in April, 2021 I launched my Fitness Business Specialist (FBS) Certificate program. The FBS is an assessment-based certificate that created to help fitness professionals acquire the business skills necessary to have a long, successful career in the fitness industry.
