Mom, Director, writer, actor, ABC, HBO, AFI Best Actress nominee and People's Choice Award winner Lydia Cornell is best known for her role as ‘Sara Rush,’ the daughter of Ted Knight (The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Caddyshack) on the hit ABC series Too Close for Comfort,

Her great-great grandmother was Harriet Beecher Stowe. She has been Invited to contribute her writings to The International Museum of Peace, which houses letters from Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Mother Teresa, Maya Angelou & Sir Edmund Hillary.

Starring in over 250 TV shows & films in 27 countries, including HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm, she is a writer, producer and director. She was honored as Best Director at Los Angeles Movie Awards and Winner of Best Comedy Film at United International UIFF for directing the SAG film It's My Decision. She received the Southern California Motion Picture Council's Golden Halo Lifetime Achievement Award and the first Elizabeth Montgomery Humanitarian Award in 2018.

She has written several books which are being turned into feature films and TV series, including The Sylvia Plan, a thriller about Stalin’s plot to kill Trotsky; Falling Up, a post-feminist comedic tale; and Hiding My Brain in My Bra. She and her Emmy-nominated writing partner have written the pilot and are developing the upcoming reboot for Too Close for Comfort.
