My name is Jaleesa Moss, I am the founder and President of Justice Around Youth. My vision for JAY came shortly after the murder of my nephew Jamareil “Jay” Caldwell on October 16, 2018. Jamareil was the 85th homicide of Columbus OH in 2018. I know that there are several "Stop The Violence" organizations across the world so I wanted to be more than just an organization saying “put the guns down”. I want to give the youth something positive before the negative influences enter their lives. So, I asked myself how I could save the life of the young people? What is our youth missing? What was missing that may have saved my nephew’s life? Then one night I had a dream and I was watching my mother teach my nephew how to make “no bake cookies” and when I woke up it dawned on me that many of the youth in low and middle class families are missing basic life skills that are key to being an adult.
