Bio:
I grew up on Long Island, NY in a white neighborhood. I went to a private school with white classmates, and I grew up with white parents. I believe they raised me with the information they made available to themselves, complicity racist and ignorant of the privilege their race provided. However, they raised me to be self-aware, to ask questions, and to gain knowledge from anywhere it was available. I went about my undergraduate years with friends of every race and ethnicity and believed I was a warrior for justice and equality. I was so very wrong.

It wasn’t until I was working on my PhD in History that I was introduced to Critical Race Theory ( my next 3 years of Doctoral study) were I forced myself onto a real personal journey of self-exploration of my racism, prejudices, and indoctrinated ideologies on race relations in America. I came to acknowledge my actions, thoughts, and practices as complicit behavior that supported systemic racism at its core. Now, through years of study, listening, learning, unlearning, and many many errors, I am showing up to the fight armed with the knowledge, the drive, and the desire to be a true ally, to take on the responsibility of guiding other white people to true allyship, and to being a positive force for individual and organizational change.
