Adebayo Kalibbala Katiiti is a Prince from Buganda Kingdom(Uganda), Grand-Trans-son of Buganda god of War Kiganira KIBUUKA and The Kabaka (King) Kimera of Buganda, A Transgender son of Kalibbala.
He is an activist and founder of RARICANow, an Edmonton-based NGO that supports LGBTIQ+ Refugees and Newcomers. He came to Edmonton for the ILGA swimming competition that happened in August 2016. Following the traumatizing events after Uganda police raided the gay pride. As the reigning Mr. gay Pride Uganda of 2015 he was among the activists who were arrested, highly beaten and undressed to check if he was a man or woman
Adebayo applied for refugee status and now a permanent resident, but soon realized: that most queer and trans refugees were not afforded the same support he received, and that racism was alive and well in Canada's 2SLGBTQ+ community. Since settling in Edmonton, Adebayo has dedicated himself to helping newcomers like himself navigate the labyrinthine refugee process and access the services they need. He’s guiding principle is putting humanity first before ego and internalized bias
Adebayo is a board member (QTBIPOC Liaison) at The LGBTIQ Wellness Center, A leader and organizer of Stonewall, Black Trans Lives Matter Movement rallies in Alberta. He was honoured to receive the Change Maker Pride Award from EPFS June 2018, Adebayo’s in school enrolled in Compassionate, Collaborative and Inclusive Leadership; Anti-Racism Capacity Building Course at MacEwan University after being granted the Make it Awkward bursary.
