KD Neeley is a New Mexico based artist and Marine Corps veteran. At present she is working on a series of paintings that document movements in a variety of Martial Arts styles.
Neeley trained with world-renowned watercolorist and visual communication expert, David D. Ewart as well as UNM and Central New Mexico Community College instructor J.L. Johnson. Both taught her a wide variety of painting techniques and the practice necessary to produce a body of work in a short span of time. Neeley continues to train with the Los Angeles based oil painting instructor, Lance Richlin, as part of his ongoing Atelier, learning the traditional techniques of the old masters.
Three bodies of work define Neeley’s artistic career so far: The Metaphysical Realism Series, which depicts visions the artist has experienced as part of mental illness, The Martial Arts Series, which depicts martial artists performing movements, and The Fluid Painting Series, which is the artist’s version of play.
Neeley has won awards for works at the New Mexico Veterans Art annual exhibition and showcased work in a variety of local New Mexico wide shows in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Her work has been collected worldwide from Australia to Ireland, but most collectors are based in the United States.
