Raising awareness for Spina Bifida

Spina bifida is a birth defect in which there is incomplete closing of the spine and the membranes around the spinal cord during early development in pregnancy. There are three main types: spina bifida occulta, meningocele and myelomeningocele.

My younger sister was born with Spina Bifida: Myelomeningocele. She had the most amazing spirit of anyone I’ve ever known. There were so many lessons she taught us that has made me into the person I am today. She left us at the young age of 27. Always smile, never say “can’t”, run every chance you can get, and be a good human. We ❤️and miss you every day Rachel.. 7/27/77-12/27/04
