Composting, sustainability, anti-racism, anti-colonial, single mom of 2 multi-racial children living in the illegally occupied Kingdom of Hawaii

In my community I am dedicated to:

The ‘ōlelo Hawai’i, Native Hawaiian, and ‘āina based education of my children

Conscious, empowering, and loving parenting to my children, and co-parenting with their fathers.

Promoting sustainability in Hawai’i centered around Native Hawaiian wisdom and practices, both historical and present day. Native wisdom should be primary in all place based education everywhere. Native people were living in a symbiotic relationship with the earth before colonizing people came around with their fears and weapons and f*ed it all up with slavery, organized religion, and plastic.

Co-founder of West Maui Green Cycle, a commercial composting facility

Started the Maui school food waste composting program in conjunction
with Grow Some Good school garden program

Have been actively a part of single use plastic education and legislation in Hawai’i since 2009.

I recognize that as a non-Hawaiian settler in Hawai’i Nei, my role is to center and empower Hawaiian voices and wisdom whenever and wherever possible. And fix the “trash” problem that didn’t even exist until western contact (there was no Hawaiian word for trash until then)
