Artist Manager at Monotone Inc. Freelance marketing and project manager. Independent label champion.
I began my career in music at the legendary Rough Trade Shop in west London, from counter culture and mail order I began running the in-house shop label, Wiiija Records, in 1990, releasing alt rock records by Therapy, Huggy Bear, Bikini Kill, Free Kitten, working with US labels Grand Royal, Merge, Kill Rock Stars. Five years in, the label was acquired by the Beggars Group, and we went on to have a huge UK hit with Cornershop’s Brimful of Asha. After a career break where I undertook the London Consortium masters program, and a year as Director of Live Performance at the Institute of Contemporary Art, I went back to the indie label world working for Rough Trade label and Domino Recording Co, with three years as the latter’s VP of International Marketing in NYC. I have been an artist manager at Monotone for over a decade, two years of which I ran the 30th Century label for artist Danger Mouse. In addition to this, I now take on freelance music project management work.
