My motto? “If you’re working with chocolate and you’re not having fun you’re doing it wrong.”

Over the past 20+ years, my activities as a fiercely independent critic, educator & consultant in cocoa and chocolate have taken me from cacao farms throughout Latin America and the Caribbean to European chocolate capitals - and beyond.

I am a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, walking away with a BFA in Photography - waaay before digital photography was a thing.

Changing career gears is in my DNA.

I have worked as

> a radio DJ
> a jazz festival and concert promoter
> first assistant to award-winning architectural and studio photographers
> a member of pioneering computer graphics and Internet software development teams

> I wrote the first book on HD video production (1995)
> I am a named inventor on multiple patents in information technology
> I can legit lay claim to be the world’s first *professional* chocolate critic.

I have appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and am the inventor of the world’s most decadent - and food festival favorite - chocolate dessert: Beer & Bacon Chocolate Fondue. (Go ahead, ask, you know you want to.)

In Jan 2008, following the publication of my book “Discover Chocolate” (pub Oct 2007), I stood up TheChocolateLife.com, an independent online chocolate community that has helped over 12,000 registered members and uncounted thousands of others in more than 160 countries on six continents.

I am available to travel and am seeking new consulting opportunities and challenges. I have a valid US passport with valid business visas for China and Brazil. I received a yellow-fever vaccination in 2019 and as of 3/27/2021 I am fully immunized against COVID.
