I started out working for Jim Henson’s Muppets for about twenty years and I worked for many years designing and inventing toys before becoming a political cartoonist. I designed and licensed products to Hasbro, Mattel, Fisher-Price, Kenner, Milton Bradley, Timex, Keds, McDonalds and dozens of others. I also worked as an advertising illustrator and did campaigns for Discover Card, Sega, Safeway, and many more: I did packaging for Avon and box art for General Foods Post Cereals; I’ve worked in animation and I worked for Universal Studios and Disney.

I started the Cagle Cartoons, Inc. newspaper syndicate in 2001, and started Cagle.com in 1996, partnering with Slate, msnbc.com and The Washington Post along the way. I’m a past president of the National Cartoonists Society and the National Cartoonists Society Foundation.
