We’ve been doing a lot of FDI Foreign Direct Investment. So when shall we start talking of PDI Planetary Direct Investment.

Starting with credible business cases, financially, legally, humanly sustainable.

Moon and cislunar space are the Canary Islands of Earth’s spatial ocean: whomever gets to control that gets to control access to the Solar System. Meanwhile, the Mars Direct approach’s got 40 windows till 2099. Way to go!

So what are we waiting for, to build a legally & financially sustainable infrastructure to underwrite Solar System socio-economic development, at planetary scale- PDI ?

But “build it and they will come” isn’t a value proposition either. Only collaborative work and negotiating the odds keep us moving forward.

As long as we remain with the nation-state and major corporations-only incentives, we might be stuck in reproducing environmental and ethical mistakes. Question is, does only that kind of governance get you to the Moon, Mars, Belt, and beyond, for the next couple of centuries.
