I’m a mixed methods interpersonal communication scholar w/ areas of research lying at the intersection of identity, culture, + communication technology.
Currently intrigued by the role of social media in shaping the formation and perpetuation of contemporary expressions of religious identity among individuals who identify as Muslim and reside in North America.
My past research includes the Muslim online dating phenomenon, where she examined the lived experience of a group of Muslim American women in utilizing websites and mobile apps for mate selection and courtship using in-depth interviews.
More recently, I completed my doctoral dissertation, which was a sequential explanatory mixed methods exploration of social media use for identity work among individuals who identify as Muslim and reside in the United States and Canada.
An avid globetrotter, gourmand, and polyglot, I am committed to cultivating empathetic communication & encouraging inter- and cross-cultural understanding.
