Charu Suri is an award-winning journalist, jazz pianist and composer. She has created a different sound in jazz with a trio and Sufi singer with her album, “The Book of Ragas,” and became the first Indian-born jazz composer at Carnegie Hall. She also writes frequently for The New York Times, Architectural Digest and Condé Nast Traveler. She is a voting member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs).

🏅Her journalism work has won many awards and she has reported on Covid-related travel news, new hotel openings, sustainable tourism and destinations opening to travelers including Moldova in Eastern Europe.

🏅She is a winner of the Silver Band Single of the Year for “Bluesy” and Gold Jazz Artist of the Month record awarded by the Intl Singer-Songwriters Association(ISSA)

🎹🎶Her latest album in 2021 is “The Book of Ragas, vol. 2” featuring Sufi vocals and the vibraphone.

🎼Her work has been performed by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and double bass player Edgar Meyer, and has been played on radio stations all over the world.

She and her jazz band return to Carnegie Hall on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021.
